Happy New Year, now Obama is President

inauguration speech transcript

He didn't do any good punch lines or one liners that we can repeat over and over again to keep us going when the going is rough. That might be too bad. Much of his speech was typical political posturing, and then the other much was catchy non sequiturs. However, he did say a few good things.

The success of our economy has always depended not just on the size of our gross domestic product, but on the reach of our prosperity; on our ability to extend opportunity to every willing heart — not out of charity, but because it is the surest route to our common good.

To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect. To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict or blame their society's ills on the West — know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy.

Black is going to be the new black. I think there is going to be a new real interest in black music and black culture in an effort to better relate with the new president.
